Toasty Tuesday with Storm Threat Lingering
It's another muggy morning. We hold on to the air you can wear with higher humidity levels on tap again today and tomorrow before a drier, less humid air mass builds in for the end of the week. We will be flirting with record highs as we rise into the upper 80s. The current record for this date is 92 degrees set back in 1977.
SUNRISE: 6:06 AM
Mostly sunny and muggy today with a forecasted high of 87. There is a chance of pop-up thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, but very isolated in nature. Any isolated storm may produce wind gusts to 60 mph and large hail. The bigger severe threat will be through the overnight into Wednesday morning.
SUNSET: 8:54 PM
The potential exists for a strong to severe line of thunderstorms to push through the area overnight around and after 4am. Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph will be possible should this line of storms maintain higher intensity through the overnight. It is worth mentioning that a level 3 threat exists on the west side of the state and wains the farther east you go in Lower Michigan meaning a marginal (level 1) risk exists for Southeast Michigan. A cold front tracking through the region will maintain a chance of thunderstorms Wednesday, but mainly southeast of our area. Looking ahead to Thursday and Friday, a slightly cooler and less humid builds in with highs still around 80 paired with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures look to trend in the mid to upper 70s through the long, Memorial Day weekend with off and on rain chances mixed with sunshine.
Heading up north for the holiday weekend? Mostly to partly sunny conditions are forecasted in Northern Lower Michigan with chances for showers and highs in the low to mid 70s.
